GYDCG-UBCW4K 4000V DC Insulation Monitor for 1000~4000VDC Systems

Description

The GYDCG-UBCW4K 4000V DC insulation monitor is made for 1000~4000VDC floating DC systems. Once the module is powered on and enabled, it measures the insulation resistance from the positive and negative poles to ground in real time, over a range of 0KΩ~50MΩ. The result is not affected by DC voltage fluctuations or by the symmetry of the positive and negative insulation resistance.

GYDCG-UBCW4K series high-voltage DC insulation monitors can monitor the insulation resistance between the positive and negative poles and ground in real time after the module is powered on and enabled. The monitoring results are not affected by DC voltage fluctuations or the symmetry of positive and negative insulation resistance.

The GYDCG-UBCW4K-RS and GYDCG-UBCW4K-RSA models support module control and data reading through RS485 communication. After power-on, the insulation monitoring function is disabled by default.

The GYDCG-UBCW4K-A (without communication) and GYDCG-UBCW4K-ARS models enable the insulation monitoring function by default after power-on.

Which UBCW4K model should I choose?

• -RS and -RSA: controlled and read through RS485. Insulation monitoring is off after power-on until it is enabled.
• -A: no communication. Insulation monitoring starts automatically after power-on.
• -ARS: insulation monitoring starts automatically after power-on.

Why monitor insulation on a high-voltage floating DC system?

In a floating DC system neither pole is connected to earth on purpose, so the first insulation fault does not trip a breaker and can go unnoticed. At high voltage a second fault between the opposite pole and earth is far more serious. A dedicated insulation monitor shows the first fault early. The UBCW4K reports it through its dry contact relay output and, on the RS485 models, over MODBUS RTU.
